The Kingfisher Bistro
A small elegant, simply styled eaterie on the old Dundalk road, an ever popular open kitchen serves modern Irish food using high quality produce in what was previously an old mill. The ambience is intimate and relaxed and one is immediately at ease with the catchy music, casual and friendly service and the focussed chefs in action on the side. Operating for eight years now, it is well established and with the high quality food served, its reputation is renowned. Open from 6.30pm-9.30pm, Tuesday to Saturday, booking is advisable. Starters like a delicious goat cheese tartlet at €8.95, a fresh fillet of brill with pea risotto at €23.95 and perfect lemon tart at €7.50 demonstrate top-level culinary prowess, not out of place in finer establishments. Signature dishes like Thai-spiced pork with sticky rice, curry oil, sweet soy and Asian salad show creative variety to the menu which also features two highly recommended and enticing daily fish specials, taking advantage of the fresh local supply. A glass of house wine is €4.50. No service charge.
